Sir John Talbot’s was full of colour, creativity and character yesterday as we celebrated World Book Day 2026. From Mary Poppins to Alice in Wonderland and the Cheshire Cat, students and staff arrived in style, bringing the magic of books to life across the school.
Students threw themselves into a whole range of activities. Many took part in our cake‑themed competition, designed their own book covers, or created thoughtful book reviews. The standard of entries has been fantastic, and we’re looking forward to awarding prizes in community meetings next week. KS3 students also enjoyed reading extracts from staff’s favourite novels, creating a real buzz of reading around the school. Across all year groups, students embraced the day, whether through literacy competitions, themed baking, or class tasks exploring classic literature.
It’s been a brilliant day celebrating all things books, and it was wonderful to see students of every age embracing the joy of reading.
